significance of SAP offline DB backup

Dear SAP Gurus,

Our SAP sites are running 24 x 7. We are regularly taking the online backup and the oracle offline redo log files backup.

We would like to know, is it required to take the full offline backup of DB? What SAP reccomends about offline backup in Production environment.

Regards,

Offlie backup is asked to take because you have to just restore the system you can do it with the help of an offlien backup only.

Online backup ca only help you to restore if you have archive logs also.So if you miss a sequence of archive logs you shall not able to restore the system back.

When you have offline backup youhave the backup of the database in all comitted state.

So if you have offlien backup the risk reduces.

Dear Rishi Abrol,

If i am sure, my oracle offline redo log files are absolutely file, so there is no need to take offline backup.?

It all depends on the backup startegy you are using.Online backup + archibe logs is fine but try to test on some Demosystem.

Please try to have some offline backup when you have Down time.

Thanks
