Hello XI guys,
I have a question about the SAP WEB AS ABAP. Is this same are SAP R/3 4.6C. Are these same or two different applications.
thanks
Vanaja,
To put it simply, in R/3 all apps run on application server layer called basis. Whereas in SAP NW all apps run on WEB AS or the web application server.
So WAS is an application server layer and R/3 is the application running on top of the application server layer.

It is definetly not the same.
You do not have sd..mm..configured on webas like r/3.if you want to configure then u might need to got for sap erp which can be configured on was.
4.6c is just an app server and u need an ITS for connected to web..
was is an inbulit webappserver and able to handle web requests..
But was abap you can develop reports,rfcs..etc like 4.6c but u donot have app mm,sd,hr systems configured..
hope this makes u clear..

SAP WEB AS ABAP is the application platform on which SAP NW runs. You can see it as SAP_BASIS when you click System->Status in SAP GUI window.
