Low Performance with Patch 185 Kernel 700

Hello,

Our Kernel release 700 was upgraded from patch 175 to patch 185.

After this upgrade we noticed that one of the manny planning sequences ( PSEQ_BALT ) that usually

had an execution time of 20 min started to last for 4 hours.

Since the only difference was the patch level of the kernel we uninstalled patch 185 and the function lasted 20 minutes again.

Has anyone had a similar problem with this patch and kernel?

Any help is welcome....

Hi,

There is various SAP Notes suggesting some issues in Kernel 700 patch 185. Few of the notes are.

Note 1296222 - frequent workprocess dumps after kernel upgrade

Note 1267215 - ThSwitchSession: ABAP should not overwrite

So please upgrade your kernel level to patch 193 or above.

Thanks for reply.

However, the notes that you refer can't help us with our problem.

In the Development System we've uninstalled the patch 185 and re-installed the previous one (patch 175) and the performance problem has disappeared.

No one can explain this.

Hi,

Every patch comes with some fixes of old bugs and may introduce some new bugs.This is very well known fact. It is always suggested to move in new kernel rather than move back to old kernel.

I will still recommend to move to patch 193 or above.
