DB13 backup on HDD

Hi,

We have our SAP systems installed on Linux 5.2 and oracle 10.2. We need to configure backup through DB 13 on external HDD or on the linux server itself.

i think we need to do entries on initSID file. What exactly we need to define on this file or somewhere else we need to define anything?

Hi,

First and foremost you need to check whether a SAP Gateway id installed in the DB server, if it is a Distributed system. You need to go to transaction SM59 and check whether the TCP/IP connection SAPXPG_DBDEST_<HOSTNAME> has a successful Connection Test. This is required in order to fire a backup from DB13.

Then you need to make the following changes in init<DBSID>.sap.

1) Change backup_dev_type = disk. Default value is tape.

2) Change backup_root_dir = <directories in which database backups to disk are performed>

It contains the backup logs (.anf, .aff,.. etc) and the back<SID>.log files. Deafault value is

$SAPDATA_HOME/sapbackup.

3) In case backups to remote disks, change,

stage_root_dir=<directories used by BRBACKUP to back up database backups to a remote disk>

Default value is the value of the backup_root_dir parameter.

You must need to ensure that there is enough space in the disk to hold the backup.

Did you even try to read yourself what you are posting here?

However there is a problem with barchive:

BR0181E Option '-cds' not supported for 'disk'

Please do a bit of thinking and searching for yourself; this is a common error.

file initSID.sap is pretty self-explanatory. read comments for each parameter.

First You have to mount HDD then give path in initsid.sap file which

is available <ORACLE_HOME>/dbs/
