Characteristic based forecasting will be created for scenarios where forecasting is at a very detailed level with lot of options for forecasting available either at the product level or at the characteristic level.
For eg, if forecasting requirement is to plan for a finished product, while forecasting, you also need to define forecast for its raw materials, components, assemblies, intermediates, by products., which inturn has got many characteristic values etc.,
Characteristics-Based Forecasting (CBF) is a powerful tool that enables you to forecast demand on both the product and the characteristics level.
