WBS element

Hello SDNs,

What is mean by WBS element and how it will works in the PS and as well as SD.

Where could be the maintain the link between SD and PS. and how it will reflect in the sales order. from PS and what is the purpose to refelect in the sales order. What are all the settings from SD point if view.

Hi,

WBS elements are maintained in the Project Systems module. The WBS element is a cost object (like a cost center) that an order can be attached to. Any costs associated with the order are also reflected on the WBS element. Both internal orders and network orders can be linked to a WBS element.

Although I am not a PS consultant, but here are the bullets on WBS elements :

- this is a building block for Work Breakdown structure

- WBS elements can have further WBS elements under it.

- You can do cost planning ,, budgeting and actual costs tracking in a WBS element

- You may assign activities of Network to a WBS element to let the costs flow into a WBS element

- WBS elemnts have operative indicators which need to be set for actions like billing, planning and costing to be done within an element

- One can also do time scheduling (like we do for Networks) within WBS elements, although that is not that widely used.

Dear Friend,

WBS Element stands for Work Break-down Structure. They are createdin PS under a Project.

E.g. You get a Project to build a Building. Now you will undertake multipler activities like Digging soil, Laying Foundation, Building beans & pillars, making walls, painting, electrification etc...

All the above steps will be undertaken in steps (i.e. one after the another) thus you will break down the Project (created in PS) in small activities which is nothing but WBS elements.

Regarding link between PS & SD for WBS element, You can assign WBS element number in Sales Order - Item Details - Account Assigment tab - WBS element feild.

The purpose of linking the WBS elements in PS & SD is to track cost & revenue. Say in the above example you need to track the Cost & Revenues for each activity seperately, then the assignment of WBS element number to Sales Order Item would help in traking WBS element-wise Revenues. Similarly we can assigne the WBS element in Purchase Order & track cost.

Hi KV,

WBS is work breakdown structure-creted in project CJ20n.

This will be assigned in SD in account assignment so it will be linked with project.

So all the planned revenue,cost it will be update on WBS hence on project.

So,you will get project wise revenue vs Cost report.
