hi,

1. Additional file

You can maintain additional files for a document type whose have been original files have been stored via Knowledge Provider.

You can call up functions for the additional files in the document info record in the tab page original files.

Dependencies

You can determine the scope of the originals model in Customizing Docuement Management System under the settings for the workstation application.

Example

You can create several graphics and the print template for a text file.

Original file Additional file

Text file Graphic

Print template

2.Content vertion

You can display content versions in document info records on the Originals tab page.

Dependencies

You can create content versions in the following way:

Manually while processing a document info record

The Original -> Store as new version function is only active for document types whose original application files are stored in a storage system (content repository) using the Knowledge Provider.

Automatically while setting a chosen status.

See also: Define document type -> Define document status.

Hi,

the main difference of these terms is that the content versions are new versions of one original and the Additional file is just like an extra individual assigned file to one original.

So the content version is created if the necessary flags for the workstation application or/and the document status are maintained in customizing. If you checkout an orignal then and after editing you check it back in to the storage category a new version of this content is created which is then also visible in the 'Originals' tab.

I hope this information could be useful for you.

Best regards,

Christoph

Hi ,

The check box aginst additional file indicates ,for the particular workstation application ,the additional files can be maintained for that w.s application . If this is unchecked , the option to maintain additional file will not be available in the transaction .

The content version option needs to be checked if you want to maintain the versions of the original of that particular w.s application. Otherwise 'check in as new version' option will be invisible.

Best Regards,

Roopa
