brtools can't find archivelogs

When I run brtools or launch an Archivelog backup using DBACOCKPIT the job never finds the archive logs. The logs are in the directory but they are not being found. Any ideals on where to look?

Thanks

Troy

HI,

Using the summary brarchive log arch<sid>.log, brarchive determines the redo number as of which the system is to save the redo logs. The tool then finds the corresponding files for the offline redo logs in the oraarch directory. This process may fail for different reasons which are mentioned below:

1. Corruption in the arch<sid>.log file

2. Incorrect archiving mode

3. Program error in brarchive

4. Database was reset with RESET LOGS

5. Subdirectory in the saparch directory

6. Other warnings are displayed before BR013W

7. Mixing the archiving process (on the hard disk and on tape)

8. Problem with redo log numbers greater than 99999

9. No redo logs available

Please check SAP Note 490976 (BR013W No offline redo log files found for processing) which tells about the possible causes behind BR013W warning and the solutions for each of them. Your issue must be due to any one of these possible causes.

regards,

Subhajit.

Archive log mode is active, I should have put in the original post that it is generating logs to the listed directory they just aren't being seen. I have tried changing the directory it log_archive_dest1 points to and so on it does't make a difference. I do not use and initfile I use the spfile structure instead these are the entries for the logs.

*.log_archive_dest=''

*.log_archive_dest_1='location=e:\oracle\dev\saparch\'

*.log_archive_start=TRUE

*.log_buffer=14262784

*.log_checkpoint_interval=0

*.log_checkpoint_timeout=0

*.log_checkpoints_to_alert=TRUE

initfile dump of spfile

rename archSID.log in the saparch directory and try again.

I tried that first, I am going through the note now to see if I can find the error.
