1 prerequisite: backup!
and do this on a sandbox or DEV system first.

Hi Brunelle,
i am suggesting customer with the following steps.
1. Bring the SAP down.
2. Take backup of OS. ( i think this should be sufficent instead of SAP backup )
3. Restart the server.
4. Bring up the SAP.
Can i find any SAP note/ information to justify what i am proposing is sufficent.
Your help will be most appreciated.
Thank you.

I would suggest adding
0.5 check with the vendor of the machine and SCSI/HBAs if the drivers are supported with SP2
3.5 install all security patches using windows update (or WSUS). A system with a plain SP2 is vulnerable to virusses
3.6 Backup the OS again after all patches are installed
