Question Regarding CTS transport:

Former Member

Hi I have these Qs regarding CTS trasnport. Please give me your inputs:

1. I move objects in an entire 'pppp' namespace under XYZ SWC to Q env, now namespace 'jjjjjj' whch ws under the same SWC: 'XYZ' has also gone to Q, but no objects of 'jjjj' have gone to Q.

Is this normal CTS functionality?

2. I want to move a namespace 'ooooo' into Q , 'ooooo' is under SWC 'ABC' , but thng to note is that 'ABC' hasn't been imported into Q's Repository, Will the CTS transport be successfull?

Thanks a lot for taking your time to answer my question,

Appreciate it very much,

Hank

Dear Hank,

I have seen this behaviour even with file transport on my system.

If you have noticed, the transport objects include both the object that you want to transport, here the namespace pppp and the SWCV. Now since you are transporting the namespace with all the objects specifically, it will be seen in QA.

The SWCV contains all the namespaces in it's properties, hence my best guess is that it transports those namespaces too but without any corresponding objects.

I have also seen that, if you only transport one mapping object of a particular namespace, only that object will be transported, none of the other objects will be transported of that namespace. Hope it's not confusing..

Thank u,

Answers my question : so this is an exptected 'undesired' behaviour

another quick question.

2. i want to move a namespace under 'ABC' SWC to Q,

But ABC is not in Q's SLD(Hence hasn't been imported into Q's repository)

Will the CTS trasport from D, actually be successful?

Hi,

You mean to say that you have two different SLD's for your environments and not one underlying SLD for both envs?

I'm really not sure then what wuold be case. I think it should be importable.

Yes I have seperate SLD's for seperate environments,

D has SWC 'ABC' in it, but Q's SLD doesnt have it,

Should ABC be created in Q's SLD prior to the CTS transport from D?

XYZ

- pppp in QA with all Objects

- jjjj in QA with no Objects

ABC

- oooo You want to Transport it

ooooo should be transported successfully in QA without any issues.

When jjjjj was imported into QA, did it give any error?? B'cos it is not usual. Can you check the Objects listed in the Transport that contained jjjjj namespace.??

Can you Confirm that you have 2 CTS Transports [per namespace] & you are planning for 1 new CTS [for oooo namespace]

Thank you,

Dev:

XYZ

->pppp(exportted only pppp objects)

->jjjjj

Q:

XYZ

-> pppp(al objects of ppppp)

-> jjjjjj(no objects of jjjjj)

no errors were reported, transport objects show only pppp objects

I have only 1 CTS request for namespace pppp, the 2nd question i asked was only a doubt i had.

Thanks,

Hank
