align variable text with tabs

I know there are already threads for similar alignment issues but I need further help on this: I have the following texts defined in SO10 (which is included in my smart form):

Vendor number: &zfla1-lifnr&

URL: &zurl&

What I am trying to do is to line up the two variables so that they start at the same position. I have defined a paragraph format through smartstyle, with the following "Tabs" definition:

1 8.00 CM Left-Aligned

2 8.00 CM Left-Aligned

Without putting in the ",," like many threads have suggested in the text, the second line, i.e. the URL line seems to be taking effect and the value of the variable moves to the right, but NOT the first line, the "Vendor number" line, which stays in the same position. I have also tried to put the ",," as follows:

Vendor number: ,,&zfla1-lifnr&

URL: ,,&zurl&

The print would just print out the ",," as a string together with the text. And again the URL line moved as expected to the right.

My question is then why isn't the first line taking effect on the tab. Does it have something to do with the fact that it is a structure-field type of variable?

Thanks for your help in advance!

J

Hi Jay,

Try to go to the 'Editor option' of the text element.

Go to 'goto->Change editor'

now type

In fist column, give paragraph name.

and in second column

Vendor number: ,,&zfla1-lifnr&

URL: ,,&zurl&

Hi Jay Yang,

This will happen because of the Data Types, in order to over come this issue...

For that Particular Paragraph need to play with :

1. Space Before (No need of tab positions as we are printing on column)

2. Indent First Line (This will work for only first line of that Paragraph)

Hi,

Insted of 'CM' take 'MM' or 'CH' and try once again
