Hi,

Please check SAP Note 839187 (Oracle 10.2.0: Applying patch set/patches/patch collection). This note contains important information about applying the current Oracle RDBMS patch sets, the required patches (UNIX), or the patch collection (Windows) and the CPU (UNIX) for Oracle 10.2.0.4.

On Windows, you can apply a patch collection and apply additional generic patches if required. For information about the current patch collection and the generic patches, see SAP Note 1137346 (Oracle 10.2.0: Patches/patch collections for Oracle 10.2.0.4).

The installation instructions for the current patch set, patches (UNIX), or the patch collection (Windows) and the CPUs (UNIX) are provided in the relevant README file.

Go through the README file to check whether the Oracle InstantClient needs to be upgraded. I think you will require to uograde the same to 10204 as well.

To use Oracle Release 10.2.0.4 with SAP on Windows platforms, you require at least Oracle patch collection 5. In general, use the most recent patch collection.

On Windows, you can apply a patch collection and additional generic patches if required.

Please go through README.html to find out the sequence of steps you need to follow.

regards,

Subhajit.

The sequence would be:

- Upgrade the database server to 10.2.0.4

- Install the latest interim patch for 10.2.0.4

- Install the generic patches

- Update your instantclient to 10.2.0.4.x

See

Note 871735 - Current patch set for Oracle 10.2.0

Note 1137346 - Oracle 10.2.0: Patches/patch collections for Oracle 10.2.0.4

OPatch succeeded.

I known the patches are cumulative. There are no interim patches are applied for 10.2.0.2.0. Can I go ahead and install patches for 10.2.0.4.0 with out applying any patches for 10.2.0.2.0

Please advice on this.

Thanks and Regards

Yes.

Install 10.2.0.4 and then install the latest interim patch for 10.2.0.4.

Hello,

Current PSUs do not change the version number (info in metalink doc)

I has told that Oracle will start doing it in 11gR2 (I'll believe when i see it)
