If you wish to get the total number of documents in ALV report , then try with SLIS_EV_LIST_MODIFY or SLIS_EV_END_OF_LIST or FM 'REUSE_ALV_LIST_LAYOUT_INFO_GET'

I guess you want to know the number of entries? i guess u have to download in Excel and then have a count. or in some speific reports number of entries button is there and also an option of opening that in Excel by pivot tables are there. Just explore the options. Otherwise save as excel and count.
