About Oracle Parametre "USE_SHARED_SOCKET"

HI Experts,

Now I'd like to select SAP data from the Other System(Non-SAP).

And now I have one issue, because using port is dynamically assigned.

Detail is as follow.

1.Change FW setting to permit access 1521 from Other System

2.Test from Other system by Oracle Net Manager, but it failed due to time out.

3.By check access log , I found that used ports change evedyday.

ex) Mon -> 2366, Tue -> 2392, Wed ->2543 ...

[Question]

I think if I would set "USE_SHARED_SOCKET" = TRUE,

I will fix using port.

Would it be all right to SAP System?

I fear if I would do it, some issue would happen.

Best Regards,

Toshi

Hi there,

since using this Windows specific option is not forbidden you may try it out.

Anyhow, maybe it would be better to setup a firewall exception for the Oracle executables as described in the [documentation|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/win.102/b14304/config.htm#BHCFFHBI].

Finally, as usual, the hint that it's most often not a good idea to have a low-level/database-level interface setup.

There are already quite some threads on this topic, e.g. this one:

regards,

Lars
