Hi all,
I have file -- File with fixed lenght formats.
Source system will generate a text file with fixed lenght and target also needs the same file with same format.
Then we have an idea to implement the interface with out IR Development .this is fine upto now.
But now the problem is we are receiving more fields from source than we require for target process. we are not using at receiver side.
So receiving system needs only few required fields from the source file.
From soucre
Ex: Source.... DocNum Invoice No Bill date Bill amount vendor code
We require at target
Ex: Target..... DocNum Bill Date Vendor code
Please suggest me

Well Buddy...I think you have to create some IR objects... The fields you want to remove are not at the end of the structure ...so you have to content convert your file...
In this case you dont need any mapping objects... But u need the DT/MT/MI...
The source file content conversion is simple...In the target when you specify the target field names just leave out the ones you dont need...
Alternatively you can create a target mapping and ingore the fields there...but that would be a redundant step..

Hi,

from source we wil read all the fields, this is fine and in the target how to mention the field positions
Here all fields will come into picture, we cant mention the positions at receiver
Source side Ex: Docnum InvoiceNo Billdate Bill Amt Vendor
Fixed lenghts are 10 20 10 10 20
Target Expects Ex: Docnum BillDate Vendor
10 10 20
in receiver side if you mention fixed lenghts like 10 10 20 means it may read docnum, Invoiceno, BillDate
It wont ignore InvoiceNo field in this case

Hi Aamir,
Here in the source text file iam getting with fixed lengths, it is having the Header and Line item level.
Header is notated by 000 keyfield, Item is 001 and one more item is notated as 002.
Here i have to read Header, Line Item with the keyfield with 002 only, i dont require 001 natated line item.
If i just mention 000 for header & 002 for line item means is it is enough or how??
How to deal this situation

hey
You can specify only one value for keyfield name parameter.
try specifying only 002 and see if your scenario works.
if it doesn't,then you can drop keyfield parameter completely, and read whole of the file(with 001 as well as 002)
then in message mapping you can put a condition which will read only 002 and discards 001 values.
it is not mandatory for specify keyfield parameters.
Thanks
Aamir
Aamir,
then can i specify one keyfield (000) i.e for Header & another Keyfield (002) for Line Item???
Or Totally i should specify only one Keyfield ???
I have nearly 200 fields totally in 001 line item level, these r not required at target side processing.
i have to read 002 line item level only.and any how header 000 is mandatory
REgards
Okay let me try and will update you.
and also one more Q, in header i have 30 fields with fixed lengths, but i want only upto first 20 fields
in FCC Can i mention the lengths up to 20 fields and read those only and neglect the remaining last 10 fields??
And in Line item also i have to read first 15 fields and neglect the remaining fields
How to proceed for this
Regards
Hey
If you need to drop some fields from the payload, then you need to handle that in Message mapping.
By pass scenario(without IR) will deliver the file as it is, without any modifications.
Thanks
