SAP WDP as Rev. Proxy & Cisco LB together. Supported?

Hi,

We've recently installed SAP Web Dispatcher (WDP) 7.10 alongwith Enterprise Portal (EP) 7.0 SPS14. The portal system has a distributed architechture with DB, SCS, CI & DI on individual servers/LPARs.

The WDP has been configured as a reverse proxy with SSL termination.

We wish to further increase security/stability and provide load balancing using Cisco Load Balancer alongwith the SAP Web Dispatcher.

1. Does anyone know if SAP supports a scenario with SAP Web Dispatcher working just as a reverse proxy and an external third-party Cisco Load Balancer which directs requests to Enterprise Portal?

2. If the above scenario is supported, does anyone have a standard document or URL which describes the configuration required to set this up? I've not come across any such documentation on help.sap.com or SDN.

Thanks.

Hi,

I don't really see the point to use SAP WDP only as a reverse proxy.

I'm not sure it would be possible to put the WDP in front of a Cisco Load Balancer.

The reverse would be more logical to me : Cisco LB --> WDP --> EP

For all these questiosn check the excellent [Using Proxies Wiki|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BSP/Using+Proxies]

Hi,

The architecture should be Cisco LB -> WDP -> EP .

Refer below document for architecture for a data center with above products :
