quotation release strategy in sd?

Dear SD experts,

we have confirgured the quotation process settings in sd and using the same.

we have a requirement of quotation release strategy before the quotation submitted to customer.

(similar to pr/po release strategy)

pl let us know whether the same possible in sd or not.

You can create a status profile in BS02 to suit your requirement and assign the same to your quotation type in VOV8

is it possible thru vkm3, can i release quotation?

or any other tcode from std sap.

currently vkm3 is configured for release of sales orders (vkm3 is defined to check credit limit & credit days)

pl help, how to control the quotations thru release strategy?

As far as i know it will be a best practice to define status profile

Define them in

*SAP Customizing Implementation Guide | Sales and Distribution | Sales |

Sales Documents | Define And Assign Status Profile | Define Status Profiles*

and assign the defined status profile in

*SAP Customizing Implementation Guide | Sales and Distribution | Sales |

Sales Documents | Define and Assign Status Profile | Assign Order Types/Status Profiles*

It is not a good idea to have a release strategy through VKM3

ie., if i go thru status profile route?

my requirement is whoever (sales guy) creates quotation thru va21, the same is to be approved or released by superior and then only the quotation is sent thru mail or pdf format to customer.

this is required to avoid unnecessary commitments from our side to customer.

hope the above can be met thru status profile concept,
