Multiple purchasing group responsibility?

Former Member

Is it possible to assign multiple purchasing groups to have responsibility for a given product category? We are running Extended classic scenerio and would like to create a purchasing group for each of our buyers in SRM. The responsibility for product category would then be assigned to the purchasing group. The problem is that there would be overlapping responsibility for certain product categories, is this possible? I've tried implementing the BBP_PGRP_FIND BADI and my test revealed only one purchasing group being assigned. Essentially we would like the item to appear in each buyer's worklist even though they are different purchase groups. Is this possible?

Best regards,

Shawn O'Connor

Hello Shawn O'Connor,

yes this is possible and fully supported by the standard.

Without BADI, the system will find all purch groups responsible for you and your product category.

If more than one purch group found, the requestor will have to choose one in the purch group drop down list box.

The default one selected in this list by the system is the closest one to the user in the org structure.

Thank you for your reply Christophe. The problem we have is that we do not want the requestor specifying a purchasing group so we do not display this field on the shopping cart. We are relying on the responsibility assigned to the purchasing groups that is set in the org. structure. Since we have multiple purchasing groups "responsible" for the product category the system selects the first purchasing group and subsequently only the buyers in that purchasing group see the item in their sourcing worklist. We would like to have the item show up in each buyer's worklist that has responsibility for the product category regardless of what their purchasing group is.

Unfortunately, this won't be possible.

SRM can propose several purch group during SC item creation, and your BADI can control it, but one and only one can be assigned to this SC item.

To get this feature in SOCO, this would require to scan all SC items and redetermine dynamically the purch group list for each SC item, and match it against connected buyer's purch group !!!!!

Forget it...
