We too are starting with DMS implimentation? I have read some of your replies in SDN. Can you please help me on following.

We have ECC 6.0 on Solaris and oracle DB. Can you please guide how shall we go ahead with DMS.

1. Can we have Oracle as DB or *someone told me Content Server needs MaxDB only.*

2. Why do we need Apache and IIS on unix and windows repectively.

3 What is the use of Easy DMS and how is it differ from DMS?

5. How does SAP talks to DMS. I mean cofiguration part where SAP knows which is the CS

A-1. only u have to use MaxDB as per SAP Recomandation

A-3 EDMS is MS explorer integration here u can creat as many as folder u want nothing but like in

WINDOWS system with sap.

SAP DMS- here u can provide document Keys to creat your DIR. this is used in PLM requirements

A-4 CS communicates through HTTP protocol.

After cs Installtion U have to creat Content repository.

Next u have to configure your DMS, Use documents Access vai Kpro then only your Documents

has to be stored in your CS by selecting u created Content repository for CS.

Hi Manish,

The SAP Content Server is based on the database instance MAXDB and is available on Windows operating systems as of Release 4.6. Also u can use a filesystem instead of MAXDB.

1. Install CS

a. Install DB/file

b. Install for example IIS web server (windows)

c. Set up security

2. Config the content repository in CSADMIN

3. Create certificate and send to the CS

4. Config in OAC0

5. Config in OACT

DMS in SAP R/3 is a cross-module application that manages documents. It deals with the management of electronic documents, CAD models and drawings, MS-Office files, scanned images, multi-media files, and any other electronic files that should be stored and controlled in a secure environment.SAP DMS also provides various functionalities such as versioning, indexing, classification, revision control, integrated workflow capabilities, full text retrieval and search functionality, and linkage with SAP business objects such as Bill of Materials, material masters (parts), process plans, engineering change masters, and production orders. SAP DMS supports archiving and SAP classification schemes as well as third-party archiving repositories. SAP DMS provides integrated viewing and redlining capabilities.

The Business Package for DMS Connector for KM offers portal users a central, role-specific entry point for evaluating and editing document-based structures and the documents assigned to them.

You can use the portal content supplied with this Business Package productively in your enterprise or you can use it as a template for creating enterprise-specific portal content.

this will covers, Portal integration. i think u need down load DMS connector from SAP marketplace. in that there are tree zip files u have to export from Portal.

Hi,

Our requirment is

To connect to SAP DMS through portal

1. To connect to SAP DMS from portal we need to deploy DMS BP in portal.

2. In Repository managers we will be getting DMSrepository manager.

3. But here my problem is iam getting 2 DMSRMrepository managers in portal.

You cannot use Oracle DB for CS as it is not suported.

This is part of webserver requirement of CS installation.

EDMS is MS explorer integration with sap.

This connection is thru http protocol where you define CS repository. It connects to CS server.
