Hi
We are planning to increase the visibility for the message processing issues in PI system by implementing alert setup with generic rule in Alert framework by giving all filerting criteria as "*" with no "Suppress Mutliple Alert" option.
This can generate a lot of alerts in the system considering the high volume current processed by the PI server. Do you see any performance impact on the overall message processing due to this alert setup as both PI & ALM servers run on the same machine.
Hi,
from my experiences this should not create any impact to your message processing - even it's a high volume / frequency system. Worked with a similar system which had an alerting setup as given by you - no issues there ;o)

In addtion to above answer.
-> No impact on daily processing.
-> Can create multiple alerts for same issue (retry mode etc), each alert will be processed by alert framework so system resources will be utilized.
-> Suggestion is to create different categories and then create generic rule for each category, set duplicate suppression with some timeout so prevent un-necessary resource utilization.
-> Keep all categories/rule mutually exclusive.
