Hi,

You can use the Config tool for offline administration of the Java cluster, and is particularly intended for those occasions on which you cannot work with the Visual Administrator:

· Adding and deleting server processes

· Unlocking access to the Visual Administrator if no administrator can log on and unlock the user (for example, the administrator is locked)

and the Config Tool enables offline configuration of the J2EE Engine cluster elements. It is XML-based and allows exporting the changes you have made for later use.

Hi Sowmya,

Unlike the Visual Administrator, the config tool can connect to the configuration when the J2EE engine is down. It directly access the configuration information from database where the configurations are stored.

There are couple reasons for having the config tool in the offline mode.

1) Some configurations changes should be made directly in the database rather then online like UME etc. These generally require a restart of the server.

2) In case one of the configuration changes made is such that the server wont start. That means the J2EE is down because of the configurations. The configurations need to be changed. If we have only an online tool to change the configurations it wont work if the J2ee engine is dow. This like the chicken and the egg. So we also need an offline tool.
