It's it possible to recover log, that was created from a 7.6 database, into a 7.7 database?
Markus

Hi Lars,
thank you for the answer.
This leads to some interesting problem when a system has to be recovered to an "older" stage over a database version upgrade... I can imagine of scenarios where a new backup of 7.7 is corrupt and can't be used (for whatever reason).
So an upgrade must be planned even more carefully.

Heheh... I knew that this question would come...
Well, basically it's part of the upgrade process to take a full data backup after the upgrade has been done.
Since the changes of the upgrade usually are also covered in the logs it should still be possible to recover the 7.6 data backup into the 7.7 instance, recover all logfiles since the 7.6 backup and bring the database online again.
But this is a special case - I thought you may wanted to do things like primary db is on 7.6 and standby is on 7.7 ...
regards,
Lars
