Item Category is uneditable on saving sales order

Hi,

There is a Z item category - ZABC. This is used for Cust Tools Repair. Upon save of the sales order the item category becomes undeditable. So we are not able to change to the manual item category of ZDEF.

On saving the higher level item cat is being filled with the value '0'

Please can you give your inputs on this?

Hi,

check SPRO > S&D > Sales > Sales Documents > Sales Document Item > Assign Item Categories.

Find the line with your sales doc type and item cat. group, there's default item category assigned - ZABC. Enter ZDEF as a manual entry allowed for the doc.

Zuzane -thanks - I know that .. but the problem here is - I am not able to change the item cat as it is uneditable

hi,

the item category is captured directly from the material master. check your material master on sales view (tcode MM03); see if you can change the item category with tcode MM02. if you have not process the sales, when you create Sales Order, the item cat will automatically capture data that you mantain in MM. Hope this will work.
