Hi All,
I have an ECC system running on Oracle 10g and os is HP -UX , we stopped our database and when
we are trying to start it we get the following error
SQL> startup

Database mounted.
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
*Database mounted.*
*ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel*
I checked the alert log and found the following error
Errors in file /oracle/SID/saptrace/background/isr_dbw0_21317.trc:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [3600], [1], [8194], [], [], [], [], []
Mon Jun 1 13:43:28 2009
DBW0: terminating instance due to error 471
Instance terminated by DBW0, pid = 21317
when i check the trace file isr_dbw0_21317.trc i get the following info error 600 detected in background process.

Hi All,
Thanks for all who has responded to my query. The database is still down and its not coming up.
for all the datafiles i did dbverify and i did not see any corrput pages for all the datafiles i could
see this Total Pages Marked Corrupt : 0
However i tried dbverify command on control file, not sure if i can do this but when i tried it i got the
message
DBVERIFY: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Tue Jun 2 13:18:55 2009
DBV-00103: Specified BLOCKSIZE (8192) differs from actual (16384)
checked in initSID.ora and found that db_block_size is 8192 .
Not sure what else i need to check .

Hi Ershad
I believe you have control files in 3 places, i.e 3 copies of control files. Let's call them control file A,B, and C. Can you take backup of all the control files and use a single control file in all the specified location. Try with A everywhere, then B and then C. Your problem seems to be due to inconsistency in control files.
Give dbverify output .For more information of dbverify see
http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96652/ch13.htm
Ershad,
There are a number of bugs in Oracle that causes ORA-00600 error. SAP doesnt suppost 10.2.0.1 version.
Check SAP Note 376755 - ORA-00600 - what to do?
http://www.mydatabasesupport.com/ora-00600-internal-error-code.html
You can find a corresponding trace file in your bdump directory that will have more information. Then, you can take that ORA-600, login to Metalink (www.metalink.oracle.com), and they have an ORA-600 information tool. That can assist you.
Search Metalink for ORA-00600 error. Also check syslog and the Oracle alert<SID>.log.
Thanks,
Sushil

Hi there,
just a short note from my side.
The DBMS_REPAIR package is not supported in SAP instances.
Although the name suggests it, no repair is done with this tool. How should it do that? It does not know your data.
All the package does is skip corrupt blocks (blocks !! not rows, whole blocks!) and leaves you a table that is technically readable.
It does not:
- save all data that could be saved
- find the root cause of the corruption
- fix the application side inconsistencies caused by loosing rows
By using the package you will end up with a inconsistent data set in your main business infrastructure!
So, please do yourself a favour and do not use this package.
Open a support message and have the issue checked by the Oracle support@SAP.
regards,
Lars
The DB version is 10.2.0.1.0 .

Can you please check the trace files and see whether there is any difference in SCN. You might need to stop/start the database Although the solution is little wierd but if the problem is in SCN then repeated start/stop (may be 20-25 times) of your database should solve the problem.
But if that does not solve the problem then please upgrade to 10.2.0.2 ot 10.2.0.4 as your version of database is neither recommended nor supported by SAP.
Please check note : 1221326
Upgrade to patchset 9.2.0.7
or
Install patch 3030282 on top of 9.2.0.4
