We are looking at SAP MDM 7.1 for Master Data Management. In previous evaluations, SAP MDM could not perform the following functions:
1. Can SAP MDM 7.1 unmerge records that were previous merge?. For example, two customer records were merge into a golden record and now you want to unmerge them. Is this capababilty available in SAP MDM 7.1?
2.Can you do "what-if" type scenarios for hierarchy management with SAP MDM 7.1? We have a financial hiearchy that aligns our products to a hierarchy. It changes every year. The business would like to do "what-if" scenarios; move products from one part of the hierarchy to another. Is this capababilty avaialble in SAP MDM 7.1?
3. Can SAP MDM 7.1 support both: information about a consumer record and information about a company record?
Has anyone installed SAP MDM version 7.1 that can help me answer these questions.
Hi Thomas,
1. Can SAP MDM 7.1 unmerge records that were previous merge?. For example, two customer records were merge into a golden record and now you want to unmerge them. Is this capababilty available in SAP MDM 7.1?
Unmerge command as seperate command is not available. However if the key mapping is enabled, you go to Edit Key Mapping and remove the required entry from there. This will unmerge the record you removed. Next time when this record is sent again by source system, it will be regarded as new record and not merged record.
It is modeling exercise. You have to model MDM repository keeping this in mind. This was possible in MDM 5.5 also.
3. Can SAP MDM 7.1 support both: information about a consumer record and information about a company record?
What you mean by company record? There is company table as lookup table in repository. If you want to store company data as seperate master data then in MDM 7.1 you can have 2 different main tables. 1 each for Consumer and Consumer.
Hope this clarifies,
