Hi Experts,

While doing planning using product heuristic in RRP3, it encounters with the following warning message

Product heuristic ended on 28.05.2009 at 13:46:03; Warnings have been issued , and also the delivery date of pur req is late, in addition to that the planned order also not created. On checking the error log it gives the following information. Please kind adequate tips to over this problem.

Thanks and Regards,

Babu

Diagnosis

The system has not found any gaps in which the activity 164132|||y can

be scheduled.

This can have the following causes:

o The gaps in resource reservation are too short.

o The activity lasts longer than the working time between two

non-working times and cannot be interrupted by breaks.

o The activity requires more capacity than that offered by the

resource.

System Response

The system does not schedule or reschedule.

Procedure

Check the routing data of the source of supply.

- If necessary, define that long activities can be interrupted by

breaks.

- Verify the resource utilization for the activity.

o Verify resource capacity.

Hi Babu,

The system is telling you that the resource you are using in this PPDS product heuristic does not have any time slots that can fir your orderr.

In other words, a resource has some open time defined in it's capacity variant in resource master ( /sapapo/res01) and these open times in which a production order/planned order can be scheduled is what the system is referring to as "gaps".

The system looks at the requirement and creates a order in heuristics which is then scheduled as per the resource capacity. If the system finds out that the time required to complete the order is greater than the available or gap time of the resource, it does not schedule the order.

So the solutions for your case are

1. Increase the gaps: Review the cycle times or the capacity variant of the resource and make sure that there are enough gaps to fit orders

2. Reduce your max-lot size so that the system can create smaller orders at at a time that can fit in the gaps more easily.

Hope this helps.
