"database manager" does not show up after MaxDB install

We have about 5 MaxDB/LiveCache installations.

Some of them has the "start->all programs->my SQL MaxDB->database manager" , while

some of them do not have above item.

I think there is a PC command to bring above item visible or accessible. Could you help?

P.S. I have used dbmcli to confirm the livecache is running well.

Thanks!

Hi Ashley,

the GUI tools (DBMGUI, SQL Studio and DB Studio) are not installed with the database software but have to be installed separately.

You may just download the installation packages from the service marketplace or here from SDN.

Lars:

You mean after download them, install them on the livecache server?

Please clarify because I am new.

Thanks a lot!

HI Ashley,

you don't need to install the DBMGUI on the liveCache/DB Server.

It's a remote admin tool and therefore you should install it on the computer on which you want to use it.

To administer instances you need to register them in the DBMGUI (I believe the menu item is called "add...").

hope that helps,

Lars

Lars:

I go to SMP and check software download center->

My Company's Application Components" MAXDB" MAXDB 7.5 , 7.6, 7.7"

I see : "no data available" for all above.

Do you know why? Thanks!

I cannot know, but I bet there are some license things your company has to check until you can access that area.

Maybe the contract of your company was bound to a different DBMS until now?

Meanwhile you can just download the software from SDN - it's the same software, it's just that it may not be the latest build.

Lars
