Former Member

Hello,

We want to use DMS.

We want to store the original documents in the file system.

Is there any way of doing it without using content server or archivelink?

Best regards

Shlomo

Hai,

Shlomo,

Loader uses a data carrier to physically store the data stream outside the database during export/import. With the syntax element mediumtype_spec you can specify the type of the data carrier for the data stream in import and export commands.

Further refer this url

Find general information regarding storing originals using third part servers

Hi,

The SAP applications concerned must support the use of the SAP Content Server.

With the SAP Content Server 6.30 it is possible to store documents -alternatively- on SAP DB or file system.

A file system has to be administrated and access has to be restricted according to execution rights of users. The advantage of the SAP DB is that it already has tools for administration and security.

As well SAP DB as file system stores content on magnetic disks.

SAP Content Server for Unix will be available as of SAP CS 6.30. See details in SAP note 622509.

Hai Shlomo

You can use SAP database for the storage of documents. But when you need to store a large amount of documents, then, using content server is advisory.

There are two options for storing documents from a document info record in an external storage system:

1. Documents (originals) from the work area (in the user's file system) are checked into the secure storage area in the storage system. Using this option it is possible to check out the document from the archive back into the work area. For each document info record, two originals can be managed in this way. Each original can have up to 99 additional files appended to it. These additional files are checked in and out with the original.

2. Additional documents or PC files are linked to document info records and stored. Only one checking is possible. Any number of documents can be stored.
