What is the relationship between MaxDB and Python?

Hi Christy,

as usual: knowing more never hurts

To administer MaxDB instances you don't need to know any python.

Although it's internally used it's always covered by the MaxDB tools commands.

I personally like and use Python, but there are for sure ways around it.

Moreover, note, that there seems to be no official support for Python > version 2.3 for current MaxDB releases, which is quite old these days and I'm not aware of official support for more recent Python releases (2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 3.0).

As the last working Python version is 2.4 and the standard is 2.5 / 2.6 today, and the current Python DBAPI 2.0 module stability/quality is limited, I can not really recommend to base new projects on Python.
