Serial Number tracking

Hello All,

Need some expert advice on the below mentioned issue.

The Business uses external serial number, When Goods receipt is processed the serial numbers of the material is recorded and placed in the Storage Bin. Warehouse management is used.

At this point we know which serial numbers of the material are in which bin. However there are many ocassions when the Materail needs to be moved from one storage bin to another Bin. Hence when a Transfer order is processed, There is no option in the Transfer order to mention the Serial Numbers which are bing moved from the Source to destination bin. As a result of which tracking of the serial numbers for the material is lost.

Any suggestions on how to overcome this problem. I have check and found that Serial numbers cannot be enabled at the TO level.

Will look forward for your comments

Regards

Shashi

Hello,

Yes the serial nos. are tracked only till the SLOC level and aren't carried over / tracked at the bin level and hence TO's dont contain the serialization info.

So as pointed out above, you could try using the MW* user exits and see if you could satisfy your business requirement.

You could try using the certificate field on the create TO screen to populate the serial no. given the fact that you are selecting the serial no. manually ( i could be wrong - your flow could be opposite in that you would be wanting to select the serial no. automatically ) and then including this field on the TO print form .

Hope this helps

Thanks,

Hi,

You can use an user exit or an enhancement point to populate these values from the source bin data to destination data.Try SMOD and userexits starting with MWM*.

Thanks.
