HR Data Upload

Hi,

For a implementation project we need to do data upload. Please let me know the best pratices to be followed for the data load. I am working on ECC 6.0. I have heard of various tools and programs like transaction sxda, data transfer toolbox, bdc and lsmw. please enlighten me as to which is the best method(s).

Also, is there is sequence to be followed for uploading data(infotype load sequence)? are there any excel tempates for various infotypes which can act as the source file?

Please also educate me on any common issues that can prop up in HR data load and how to rectify it.

Thanks very much

If you are trying to upload data in standard infotypes best practice to go by LSMW.

There are so many threads available about LSMW you can go through it.

Check this below links to understand and configure LSMW.

As far as HR is concerned the best practice would be to use LSMW.

First upload the data for Infotypes 00,01,02. Then the rest of the infotypes can follow. Please ensure that infotype 07 is also maintained for all employees before you upload infotype 08. For Infotypes 08,14 you will have to use BDC.

Once PA is over. Please upload OM along with relationships. Then you can run RHINTE00,10,20 & 30.

This is the normal procedure for data uploads in HR.

Hi,

In addition to what has been explained.

If you have scenario where the client has not been able to collect the information on person and the position they have tobe tagged to you can upload PA data of person with position as 9999999 (default position). once the client has finished mapping positions to person you can upload persons and position as objects in OM and than upload the relationship between person and position.

Finally run Rhintee30 and rhintee10.

If you have uploaded Position and person in PA than Rhintee00 is required.

HI,

We followed this strategy in our HCM Migration Project

1.For extraction and conversion we used SQL 2000.

2.LSMW/eCATT for uploading the data into SAP.

Data Upload Sequence:

Its a very big topic.Let me summarize it.

1. OM :First Load Organisational Data - It includes Org Unit,Position,Job...

Then load the relationship between them

2. PM : Then load Personnel Management Records - IT 0000 , IT0001, 02,03,07,08.

Then you can load other PA infotypes.

3.Benefits : After loading OM and PA , you may load Benefits IT - 0171,167,168...

%.Performance Management - Load IT 0015, 0025...

4.eCompensation Management - Load 0758 and 0759

This is the Generic flow.It may change as per the business needs. You need to work with Business experts and other functional to get the proper flow of data.

Thanks

on top of that we must upload cost center data in OM. Also all time management infotypes i.e. quotas if it is in scope.

Hi,

If you have huge data to upload, it is better to write a BDC to upload the data. which will be done through PA40 hiring action. According to the sequence of infotypes, we can maintain the data in excel and upload the same through Bdc.

Thanks,

Vasu.
