Runing BW 3.5/ 7.0 and ERP 2005 on the same server
Is there any guideline, restriction, or experience in running SAP BW 3.5 / 7.0 and ERP 2005 on a 64 bit server (Intel or AMD) with MSSQL 2005?
What are the pros and cons to keep them together or separate?
SAP claims that you can lower TCO by running different applications/ components on the same server? Wonder if this is true for BW and ERP 2005.
Urgent reply is needed. Many thanks.

You can install the EP usage type into an existing ERP application with the BI usage type active. Please be aware that you will need the BI JAVA usage type if you want to use the BI Capabilities of SAP NetWeaver 2004s. (this is a major change to the prior SAP NetWeaver BI releases as the new frontend is now built on the Portal capabilities of SAP NetWeaver). When you install BI JAVA, you will also install the underlying EP and AS JAVA usage types. Please note that the EP usage type is not necessarily a full blown Enterprise Portal implementation - this is your choice
If you wish to use the installed EP usage type (with BI JAVA) for a full blown Enterprise Portal implementation then you will have to submit the questionnaire again for this scenario. You would not need to submit it again for the BI JAVA/EP combination usage only for the BI Capabilities of SAP NetWeaver 2004s. I hope this makes sense.
BI/BI JAVA and EP usage types can run on the same server (MCOD) or on the same AS ABAP/AS JAVA Instance (MCOS). For MCOS implementations (where they usage types share the same AS ABAP and AS JAVA) there are no SAP supplied migration tools for separating multiple usage types on separate instances and servers in the future.
I hope this helps.
