Hi,
I'd like to re add the SAP production host SAPHOST1 to our domain.
Our production SAP system are running with win2003 SP2 in MC on host SAPHOST1 and SAPHOST2, and installed in our domain "DOMAIN.COM". Now
all the server information data of SAPHOST1 was lost in our domain control server, and the domain user could not log on to the server SAPHOST1, therefore SAP dose not work on it.
Unfortunately we don't have a backup for this server information on the
domain control server
Is there any risk for our SAP system if we re add the server to the
domain? Could you please advise how to restore this server?
Any suggestions/comments
would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Joseph
On Windows users and domain associations are stored as GUIDs, not as names. Those GUIDs are generated when you create users or join a domain and they are unique.
Even if you use the same server- and user names the GUID will be difference and hence the system won't operate because all permissions (filesystem, registry) point to the old GUID.
A systemcopy (installation of a system using a backup) is the only clean solution for this problem as you can read in the domain migration note (this is Windows...)

you can do that provided you make sure all the SAP relevant users <sid>adm and SAPService<SID> domain/local group memberships and related rights are unchanged.

Is your SAP running on the other node? including DB instance?
If so, easy solution may be, Take Full Database backup, Make note of kernel version ete and then reinstall Windows on the other node, configure your cluster, reinstall SAP in the same directories and network struture, bring up the same kernel level as it was and restore your SQL database.
Hope this solution helps.

Krishna
