*Question : * You assign a division to one or more distribution channels. I am doubtful whether this king of assignment exist in SAP.

1) We always assign Division to Sales Organisation.

2) We always assign Distributionm Channel to Sales Organisation.

3) Set up sales area.

You are very correct on this, But at the same time the Statement is also not wrong.

There is no direct assignment of division to distrbution channel as in customizing.

But while maintaining the Material master Record, A Material from a particular division can be assigned to many Distribution channels right? At the same time Different materials from the different division can also be assigned to one distribution channel.

For example :

Say u have two material 1: Say Toothpaste Division : OL

2. Soap : Division : SP

And two distrbution channel : Direct : DR

and Retail : RL

Now if u want to sale Toothpaste from Retail and Direct then while creating material master u have to extend the material to these two distribution channel.

and also u can sale Soap as well as Toothpaste from both DC,

In this way the assigment of division with DC makes.
