Same Number Ranges for different document types in SD Module.

Hai. all

i have two doubt in the number range

First : can we increase the number range size from 10 to 12 digits.

Second : same number ranges for different document types in SD Module,( means quotation, enquiry, order, delivery, billing etc.)

if it is possible who?

Please guide me.

Dear Hari Shankar,

Number ranges are maintained against number range objects in VN01 transaction code.

Number range objects are maintained against the sales document type in the number systems tab of VOV8 transaction. You can assign the same objects to any number of document types and all of them will have the same number range series.

You may not extend the digits to 12, but you can use user exit to define a logic for a new series, talk to your ABAPER for exit related developments.

Hi,

We cannot Exide more then 10 digits because sap had provided only 10 digits aloud by programming or non standard if u try to Exide the range it will get impacted each and every step in sales cycle

point 2 u cannot give same number range to document type because by standard it is not allowed it will give message number range is overlapping

You can give the same number range for every Sales Document Type.Assign a code in VN01 with some number range and assign this code in VOV8 for every sales document type.

But this is not a right approach to use the same number range for every sales document type.As in real time ,end users of every deptt like Marketing/ Despatch know the document number as per the document type.So better to give different number range for every sales document type.

We can't increase the number range size from 10 to 12 digits as SAP standard.
