How can we compare workflow templates? We need to compare the different
versions available in our Quality and development systems for any kind of
changes -
1. new steps added
2. steps deleted
3. other changes related to binding, events etc..
What is best way to compare different versions of a workflow template??
regards,
revoori
As far as I know there is no easy way to compare workflows across systems.
The problem is so much information is stored regarding workflows in so many objects that there is no easy way.
You could try to find out what tables are used in workflowdefinition, binding, events, containerelements, business objects, methods, tasks, texts etc etc. etc.. and then use transaction SCMP to compare the table content.
The fastest way is simply to open the workflow definitions in the builder (PFTC) and then view the navigation area if steps are different. Or in the builder you can go to Extras>Special Functions>display definition structure
This will display it in text mode, you can then copy it in Excel or something and compare if there are differences.
Changes to bindings aren't that easy to compare, other then viewing it yourself in the builder.
What is the exact reason why you want to compare them, maybe there's a different solution to your problem.
Kind regards, Rob Dielemans
