Cannot determine sdm host (is empty)

Hello,

I am deploying one application and the result is:

Deployment exception : Cannot determine sdm host (is empty). Please configure your engine/sdm correctly !

I have marked SAP J2EE engine is installed on remote host and I have written the Message Server Host y Message Server Port.

The connection to the remote server is through VPN.

I have 2 questions:

Should I enter the VPN configuration on SAP NetWeaver?

Should I start Tomcat or JBoss to deploy the ear or not necessary?

Hi,

I hope that yoou are connected to VPN, this problem generally occurs when ppl have not established a connection to VPN. Once this is done, one again view the nodes of server. They should be green.

There could be two possibilities ,

Case 1. you have not specified the configuration details of the server in the developer studio.

Solu:

goto prefrences tab --> j2ee engine

then enter the sever details.

Case 2:(Genrally in case of VPN connections.)

configuration not done for the remote system

solution:

Goto prefrences tab and provide the URL of ur remote server into the URL box.

try to ping . if ping is succesful.

then try to deploy .. it will work.
