Hi All,

I am new to XI.I am trying to install XI on windows 2003 and sqlserver. I am done with the following without any error?

1. OS and its service packs

2. Sql Server and patches.

3.Central instance

4. DB instance

5. Installed sap gui.

I have logged in as administrator and installed the above stuff.

1. When do i need to create <SID>adm user?

2. Do i need to use <SID>adm to install the XI?

3. When i logged in to sapgui, i am getting host name error. Do i need to change hosts file?

Thank you

Thank you,Krishna Moorthy.

I went throught the documentation. But it is not saying any thing like

1. At what point we need to create <SID>adm?

2. Do we need to use this to install central instance and DB instance?

Thank you

Ganges,

It should have been created when you installed the central instance. Check the users in the 2003 server by right clicking on My Computer -> manage -> System Tools -> Local Users and Groups.

Ganges,

Your <SID>adm users are created (automatically) as one of the steps in the central instance installation . Using these you can then further install additional components onto your SAP system.

hope it helps clarify your queries.
