Updating Sol Man 700 SP17 to EHP1 SP3 terminated on Support Pack Conflicts

Hello all,

I just built a Sol Man 700 system and patched it to SP17. I would like to update it to EHP1 SP3. The kernel update and Java Stack has been updated to 701_REL fine. The SAINT runs for ABAP stack patching kept terminating on conflicts between SAP_BASIS 701 and ST (SAPKITL428, SAPKITL429). I have ensured that all the items (listed below) in conflicts have been loaded for the SAINT queue manual creation. For queue creation, I followed Note 1169247 - Enhancements to Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 Stack 18 upgrade.

The SAINT conflict errors are:

Conflicts Between Add-On ST 400 and other components

*Component Release Add-On Piece List Information onConflict Resolution*

SAP_BASIS 701 SAPK-701DHINSAPBASIS Include CRT SAPKITL428

Conflicts Between Add-On ST 400 and Support Packages

*Component Release Support Package Information on Conflict Resolution*

SAP_BASIS 701 SAPKB70101 Include CRT SAPKITL428

SAPKB70102 Include CRT SAPKITL428

SAPKB70103 Include CRT SAPKITL429

I appreciate your insights on probable causes to this symptom.

Many thanks

Ben Trinh

The problem was resolved and it was largely due to missing prerequisites although the system met the required SPS17 requirement. The lesson learned here is that for newly built Sol Man 700 systems, it's best to do the basic configurations to get Maintenance Optimizer going so it can be used to select and download EHP1 packages. The traditional SMP SWDC packages selector via identification of source and target releases didn't give the complete prerequisite packages for EHP1 SAINT import.

you should try to implement that SP first in tx SPAM.

After that you can upgrade the packs you were working on.
