Changing from BW 3.0 to BI 7

Hi Experts,

I have the following problems after migration from BW 3.0 to BI 7.

1. How to change query inside workbooks

In BW 3.0, I can open workbook in Analyzer and then change the query inside the workbook. In BI 7, I can only change it in query designer?

2. How to create new workbooks with multiple queries?

In BW 3.0, I open a query in Analyzer and then move the result area to another worksheet. Afterwards, I insert another query and also perform a move of result area. Finally, I save it as a new workbook and that's it. But in BI 7, when I open query in Analyzer, I can't find any button to move the result area.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Here are the answers for your questions....

1. How to change query inside workbooks

In BW7.0,

1.Open the workbook in BEx Analyzer

2.Place the cursor in any of the data item(Eg:Analysis Item)

3.Go to Tools->Edit Query. This will open the query in Query Designer

4.Do the changes in the Query as per your need and click the icon "Exit and Use Query"(tick mark)

5.Now the query designer gets closed and the changed query will be embedded in BEx Analyzer workbook

2.How to create new workbooks with multiple queries?

1.Open Bex Analyzer and create a new workbook

2.Place the Analysis Design Item, switch to Design Mode->Go to it's Properties dialog() and assign the Query1

3.Place one more Analysis Design Item and assign query2

4.Switch back to Analysis Mode

5.Now you will see two different queries in two Analysis items in the same workbook

Let me know in case of any clarifications.

Rgds,

Murali
