Binary compatible HP hardware

Hi,

We're planning a hardware migration

- from HP Integrity RX2620

- to HP Integrity BL860C.

Both source & target system will be running on Windows 2003, ECC6 with Oracle 10.2

Our main concern is wether both platforms are 100% binary compatible.

-> If so, we can do a backup/restore of the database.

-> If not, we'll have to perform an export/import, which is more time consuming off course.

Any idea ?

Regards,

Yes - they are.

The processor stays Itanium-2, even if it's faster/multicore/newer chipset.

There was a binary incompatibility with Itanium-1 but that's past.

An HP RX2620 and an HP BL860C are compatible with each other... but are a different type of chip from the stuff which uses different binaries, both are itanium boxes.

If you are using same OS on both source and target systems, You can go for backup and restore of database.

Thanks,
