Article Hierarchy 2 or more top nodes

Dear All,

When i create an Article Hierarcy can i create 2 top nodes or more?

Or do i need to create a separate hierarchy for each top node?

For Example i want to create

202

202/01

202/02

202/02/01

203

203/01

203/01/01

Do i need to create a different Hierarchy ID for 202 and a different for 203?

Or can i use both top nodes in one Hierarchy ID and if yes how?

Thanks in Advance

George

When you talk about the top node of a hierarchy, you can only have one. Otherwise it wolud be another hierarchy.

If you want only one hierarchy tree (Think of it as a tree), what you can do is create a 201 as the top node (As in your example) and then segregate at the lower level.

Keep in mind that the more complex you create a hierarchy it has a big impact in several areas such as:

Performance

Data mining or reporting

In case the two nodes are for differnt distibution chains, it would be possible as you can have for every distribution chain your own article hierarchy. But in this case no article hierarchy on client level,an either or.

Hi George,

Defining Article category goes like this-

Node

Business Unit

Segment - ( Division )

Family

Class

Brick - (Merchandise Category)

Brand

Product Group

Now

It depends upon your business process how u want to define hierachy

For eg Taking ur example

you can have 20 as ur top node and 202 & 203 as its subjects.

Hope it helps...
