Error during MC change for article

when i am changing article MC from existing to new mc system is giving error message of 'This article category cannot be reclassified'

Message no. WW654

the article which i am trying to change MC is having article type as FREE snd new mc is already having list of articles belongs to HAWA article type.

plz suggest the solution and what is the interlink b/w MC and article type.

Dear Charan,

I guess you are in SAP Retail and are using T-Code WRCR.

WRCR gives you a provision of Log. If you study the log, you may be able to better understand the problem. Alternatively, you may post the log entries here in SDN. My first impression after looking at the general description is that you might have been trying to change the MC for a structured article / Empties , because the error says something about "Article Category".

Also, Changing MC does not have an impact on Article Type. Those are two separate and independent characteristics of an article and are used for different purposes.
