Message archiving -Volume test

Hey Guys

We are planning to enable Message archiving for our interfaces.

We have around 2 million messages waiting to be archived, the fear we have is that once we enable message archiving,XI will try to archive all these messages and might choke up due to large volume of data.

Is there a way to enable message archiving in chunks?or may be some other way to handle this situation.

Thanx

Saif

Dear Saif,

for archiving messages junkwise you can use the retention period. This way you can take control on the number of messages that are excluded from archiving.

To do so simply call report RSXMB_ARCH_INTERFACES, click 'Retention Periods' and increase the value for 'XML Messages Without Errors Awaiting Archiving'. If, for example, the 2 million messages result from past 12 months, set the retention period to 330 days. This way all messages of the past 11 months will not be archived as the are they are considered to be still in retention period.

After archiving of messages older than 330 days has completed successfully, you can decrease the retention period to 300 days to archive messages of next month.

In case this does not work out kindly open an OSS message. There are additional options to control the data volume using techniques of the build-in parallelizer. For this I would appreciate to have access to the system under investigation.

Is there a specific retention period for asynchronous messages "WITH" errors (for example if they are cancelled manually) awaiting archiving or deletion?

RSXMB_ARCH_INTERFACES only allows you to set retention periods for async messages WITHOUT errors.

Kind regards,

Peter

Check this

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/0e/80553b4d53273de10000000a114084/content.htm

You will find here options to schedule and increase the speed of archiving process. You may exclude certain time interval from archiving. The statistics of archiving can also be checked.
