hi guru's,

1)How to add a charecterstic to an infocube with data and how to retrieve data for that charecterstic

2)if the charecterstic is in infosource what is the procedure and if not in the infosource what is the procedure

3)once we defined a data source with some selected fields and with some hidden fields later we decided that we need those hidden fields then what to do is reinitialization is required?

4) if we add an attribute to a charecterstic then how to load data to that attribute

5)Assume that there is 5 years of data to be loaded as per the client requirement we need a key figure in the reporting.how to get historical data to that key figure

is it possible to load only the current data instead of loading historical data for a key figure

Please help me in this regard as these are our urgent requirements for our next Project

Hi Anupama,

If you are planning to be on the NW 04s version soon you would be able to use the feature of "Remodeling InfoProviders" to add characteristic to an Infocube already containing data.

Else you would have to delete the data add the characteristic, create update rules and then populate the cube with the data once again.

Just to add further..

1.After u add the new characteristic to the infocube,You need to drop the data in the cube and reload again to get the data populated for the newly added characteristic

5.Data loaded to the keyfigure based on the year.you can get the history data by restricting thekeyfigure to whatever yr data u want.Also u can do it using variable offset

Hi anupama;

1. make sure you have created that new char in RSD1 and go to the infocube maint. and add the char from right to left. Also assign the dim for that new field.

2. If you already have in the infosource you are ok, but usually you have to add it in comm. stru. and map it in the transfer stu.

3. If you unhide the hidden field you need to do the reinit again.

4. you need to map in the transfer st. of the char for that attribute.

5. when u do the loading...just load it for 5 years. If you want to see just a current data in the KF just create a restricted KF with fiscal year (current) or posting period with your current value..
