To add on to Georges suggestion,
the best thing would be a course of course (classroom or e-learning)...
Another option, get a colleague to explain it to you & may be they still have their course books...
Apart from that, learn by example:
Just open every report you can get your hands on and see how they've done it, watch & learn.
