Hi All,

I have been done the installation of N4S(Netweaver 2004s) on Redhat Linux.

1) After the installation i am not able to start the N4S, then i found some forums they were mentioned about some environment variables

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/sapdb/programs/lib:/usr/sap/N4S/SYS/exe/run

export SAPSYSTEMNAME=N4S

export dbms_type=ada

after make this changes also i am getting some other warnings like

ABAP Database did not find R3trans

/usr/sap/N4S/SYS/exe/run/R3trans : Execute format error. wrong architecture

/sapdb/programs/bin/dbmcli : cannot execute binary file

DB startup failed

2) I tried to start the maxdb in /sapdb/bin folder startdb its giving the installation of software is wrong.

3) i have been done some changes in /etc/hosts file also as like

<IP address of my system> n4shost

Is there any thing wrong or i have to add some other entries in environment variable? please let me know..

Thanks and Regards,

Sridhar

Hi..

Try to get the R3trans info by executing

file <Kernel_directory_path>/R3trans

it will show output somthing like..

ELF 64-bit MSB executable SPARCV9 Version 1, dynamically linked, not stripped

By doing it, you can find the information about the kernel you currently have.

Hi..

First please check that you have choose the right kernel and installation source that is compatible to your linux.

Else execute, from n4sadm id

  1. startdb

#R3trans -d

Post the log file trans.log if you get error.

Hi Abhimanyu,

I tried to start the databse with n4sadm login also there i am getting the log file as follows:

ABAP Database did not find R3trans

/usr/sap/N4S/SYS/exe/run/R3trans : Execute format error. wrong architecture

/sapdb/programs/bin/dbmcli : cannot execute binary file

I downloaded the N4S from sdn, there is no option to select the kernel version and all...

Do not execute R3trans but type

file /usr/sap/N4S/SYS/exe/run/R3trans

...but I see that you use a 32bit system, you need a 64bit system to run that.

Dear Sirdhar,

please follow the steps correctly. I asked for putting the command file before the R3trans command. However, I see that you are running a i686 (32-bit) Linux system. The N4S Testdrive is available for both, 32-bit and 64-bit. It is very easy to figure out which is the correct version for you. The N4S with MaxDB is 64-bit. This is unsuitable for you. The N4S with DB2 is 32-bit, this is perfect for you. I strongly assume that you have installed the MaxDB version.

Solution: Please use DB2 version on 32-bit.

Thanks,

Hannes
