Data protector cannot make parallel backup

Former Member

Hello:

I´m having this issue with Data Protector running on Solaris with Oracle

When sending a parallel backup using 2 drives it only uses 1. The drive 2 shows as inactive/pending no errors

It only shows that drive 1 uses "/dev/rmt/0mbn" but I dont know how to find the second drive path.

I have this parameters on the init.sap:

backup_dev_type = util_file_online

compress = hardware

exec_parallel = 2

tape_address = (/dev/rmt/0mbn, /dev/rmt/4mbn)

tape_address_arch = (/dev/rmt/0mbn, /dev/rmt/4mbn)

tape_address_rew = (/dev/rmt/0m, /dev/rmt/4m)

tape_address_rew_arch = (/dev/rmt/0m, /dev/rmt/4m)

Are they ok or need something extra?

How can I find the exact drivers path since this is the info i received but not sure its ok

Thanks

Georg

The problem was a DP configuration

Hi Manoj:

I couldn´t find an exact equivalent to the ioscan.

Found this psrinfo, prtconf, sysdef, devfsadm, prtdiag

I tried on this but it doesnt show me the devices address.

Thanks

0 0hb 0mb 3 3hb 3mb 4 4hb 4mb 5 5hb 5mb

0b 0hbn 0mbn 3b 3hbn 3mbn 4b 4hbn 4mbn 5b 5hbn 5mbn

0bn 0hn 0mn 3bn 3hn 3mn 4bn 4hn 4mn 5bn 5hn 5mn

0c 0l 0n 3c 3l 3n 4c 4l 4n 5c 5l 5n

0cb 0lb 0u 3cb 3lb 3u 4cb 4lb 4u 5cb 5lb 5u

0cbn 0lbn 0ub 3cbn 3lbn 3ub 4cbn 4lbn 4ub 5cbn 5lbn 5ub

0cn 0ln 0ubn 3cn 3ln 3ubn 4cn 4ln 4ubn 5cn 5ln 5ubn

0h 0m 0un 3h 3m 3un 4h 4m 4un 5h 5m 5un

Drive 1 takes "0mbn" instead of "0mn" any clue?

Also I found this in the debug.log file of DP:

05/14/09 19:13:01 OB2BAR_BACKINT.4839.0 ["integ/sap/optmgr.c /main/dp56/1":766] A.06.00 bPHSS_37745/PHSS_37746/DPSOL_00327/DPLNX_00045

[SapOptParseCfgOpts] Can not find SAP_Parameters list in the configuration

Thanks

Yes - and that's the kernel place of a Solaris on SPARC - are you on x64?
