How to Add External Definition to Data type in pi 7.1 ?

hi experts

i want to add ED to The Data type.

empname

dept_info( external defeniation)

hey , if you want to flll ED as datatype just import the xsd, if you want to add the additional field from ED to your existing datatype do the above said things,

pl. give details about your problem..

req is to include the ED (part or whole) under an element in the DT....this ED will become the subelement structure of the DT element......what Prateek suggested is the only way out...no direct/easy method available to do this

we can do one more thing,

create the ED as DT manually and include that DT as element ....

If the external definition file is xsd, export the file as well as datatype. From the ED file take the statement beginning from root element and add it to the datatype as element. Validate it in some tools like XMLSpy or Altova and reimport it in PI as datatype.
