Translation

Hi, I'm looking into this object translation and I'm curious if anyone else has been through this? It looks like a manual process where you are presented with a list of selected objects and then someone manually types in the translation?

We've hired a translation service so they expect a list of texts to be translated. Is there any way to import the translated texts?

We are looking to add spanish texts for our infoobjects, queries, Key Figures, Characteristics, Variables, etc...

Thanks for any directions on this...

Ken

Hi,

There is no such mechanism where u will get the translated texts available without doing translation.u need to click on the object which u want to translate.one window will b opened. Now u need to double click on the object which is existing so that the translated object will appear automatically in the next line. This is how u need to translate but there is no such way that u can do all this process automatically.

check this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/e3/e60138fede083de10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm

I really don't understand why they make this translation so difficult? Reading SDN tells me it's a really bad tool.

1. We have a lot of queries with a lot of characteristics, Key Figures, Variables, RKF, CKF, Structures etc. How can one possibly be expected to maintain all of the translation texts one by one?

2. We have a service that would greatly translate these for us if we give them a file. It would be nice to be able to somehow upload the translated texts back into BI. Is there no possible way to do this?

3. Also, am I reading this correct that after all of the texts are converted the actual BI Objects have to be transported?!! This is basically saying all I have to retransport all of my Z InfoObjects?

4. Our queries are built/maintained in production.

Can I just do this translation in Production?

Thanks for any ideas/help/thoughts....

Hi,

You can maintain the translation texts for all characteristics. KFs, Variables, RKF. CKF by means of language translation.

Steps are explained in the link below.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/e3/e60138fede083de10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm

As you said, this link is not working. Please refresh it for few times, you will get it.

As you asked, that you have file with maintained texts for objects, but its not possible to use this file to translate texts.

After translating objects, you need to transport the object list and piece list correctly which will result in translation of objects in the target system.

Hope it helps!!!

Thanks

Lavanya.

Hi,

Need for Language Translation:

As we know that SAP Net weaver BI systems serves as Enterprise Data warehouse globally used across different time zones and using different languages.

The technique applies to BI Objects Translation as they are visible in reports to a high number of end users and also BI dataflow objects visible in Data warehouse Workbench, useful when implementing and operating an enterprise Data warehouse globally.

You can find the details related to Translation in the link provided below.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/e3/e60138fede083de10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm

Also, you need to transport the object lists and piece list carefully. For the same, you can find steps in the link given below.

Please revert in case of any issues.

Hope it helps!!!

Thanks
